Programs - State School Spectacular

A small band of dancers from Tyrrell College Sea Lake travelled to Melbourne to take part in the State School Spectacular Extravaganza for the past two years. The show is broadcast on ABC television and is promoted by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. It allows students from schools all over the state to participate in a performing arts production of high quality with thousands of other students similar to themselves. The Tyrrell College students participating are all girls and come from year 5 to year 7. They practise at school and travel four times to a regional centre for rehearsals with other regional students. The Performing Arts Unit send out a dance teacher to train the girls and provide a training DVD for further practice sessions held at school. This is a valuable and exciting program offered to motivated, highly achieving students.
